VEHICLE FEATURE | 1970 VW BAJA BUG

Sitting on a corner in Lancaster, CA with a "for sale" sign, this 1970 VW Baja Bug caught the eye of Dennis Peterson. After towing it home and a few weeks of driving it, he soon realized the vehicle would need some serious modifications before hitting the desert. Enlisting the help of Jake Encinas at Pinhead Fabrication, the reincarnation of this Baja bug began.

Utilizing the existing 2332 Fat performance engine and 002 Weddle Internal transmission, they started fresh from the B-pillars back. Upgrading the trailing arms to Tweed 4130s and adding King shocks significantly increased the Bug's strength and handling. The Tensor DSR 35in tires provide superior steering response and decreased braking distance while helping to decrease vehicle weight.
